BTBE Introduction to Engineering
Interactive Lab Kit

Comprehensive
Originally developed to supplement the University of Florida’s Introduction to Engineering Course, this lab kit introduces what it means to be an engineer. Included are 12 unique hands-on activities that each showcase a different field of engineering, but also demonstrates how individual disciplines can work together to achieve shared goals.
Engaging
Students assemble and interact with their very own ‘live’ 3D-printed mechatronic baby alligator! Throughout the included activities, students engage with their cold-blooded companion as its head motion-tracks light sources and its body responds to touch and temperature, while exploring related experiments on fluid density, material deformation, and radioactive decay to better understand the world their alligator inhabits.

Accessible
Designed for flexibility at any scale, this kit fits seamlessly into classes from 5 to over 500 students. It supports both in-person and asynchronous online instruction and has been successfully implemented at the University of Florida and the University of West Florida.
